Strong Minds: Compassionate Hearts

Strong Minds and Compassionate Hearts - this is the guiding principle for education at Lavalla Catholic College. In an era of rapid social and educational change there are some constants: the need for young people to have inquiring minds, moral values on which to base their life decisions and empathy for their fellow man.

Families look to the College to provide a comprehensive and engaging education.  At Years 7 and 8 students are offered a variety of subjects to explore their learning styles and interests.  Students with unique Gifts and Talents are identified and offered opportunities to excel. By Year 9 students are engaged in the Master Survivor and the Mastery Learning Programs, with the more hands-on students also offered VALU.  Years 10, 11 and 12 see students selecting their own courses of study and focusing more intensely on future careers, via work experience, VCAL, VET and University sessions.

Students all participate in religious education classes, activities and retreats as well as supporting various causes. It is particularly through these activities that the College seeks to ground its students in the knowledge of what it is to be a worthwhile contributor to his/ her community and the world.

Lavalla Catholic College is a strongly academic school.  Students are offered numerous opportunities to explore their gifts and talents, educational pathways and spiritual growth.  An education gained at Lavalla Catholic College is an education for the here and now as well as an education for later life.  We work with our students so that they feel optimistic about embracing life after they leave us; that they have established values, morals and ethics which will sustain them beyond their secondary schooling.
