Pastoral Care

Lavalla Catholic College welcomes all young people into the College. We come to know the students we teach, care about what they do and how they do it. Because we all depend on each other for our well being and development; and knowing it is impossible to live fully human lives as isolated individuals, we encourage students who have joined us to become friends with one another. The College pays attention to the individual needs and the particular, yet diverse, backgrounds of all its students. However much of the work of a school is plainly with groups of students and much energy is expended in establishing a community minded group of students who learn together and where students are encouraged to make choices which are not only good for them, but also good for the whole community.

We establish structures of pastoral care and guidance programmes and all members of staff perceive pastoral care as being an important part of their responsibility and collaborate in appropriate ways according to their roles and responsibilities. The College Chaplain and Counsellors are available for those students who wish to go further in their personal growth.

The Pastoral Care Programme is dependent upon a healthy environment where the quality of relationships can be fostered and where all, students and staff, are aware of their responsibilities to others. Hence the College promotes a positive climate in which all members receive fair and consistent consideration. While ready to serve all students, we give special attention to those students who may be in difficulty.
