Lavalla Catholic College recognised the need for a program to address the needs of students interested in pursuing an apprenticeship, going to TAFE or gaining full time employment.
From humble beginnings the Lavalla VCAL program has grown to be a State award-winning program across all levels. Lavalla VCAL has won the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) State Community Partnership Award for the “Lavalla Leading Kids Go for Your Life” program which saw VCAL students go into Primary Schools conducting a series of programs.
The Lavalla VCAL program works upon the theme of preparing the students to be “work ready.” This is done by exposing students to a virtual workplace through programs that relate directly to their chosen career path. By providing students with the opportunity to experience hands on learning within their chosen career path, students have been highly successful in gaining employment throughout the Latrobe Valley and beyond.
