Indigenous Education
The Lavalla Catholic College curriculum integrates an awareness of cultural differences, indigenous history and contemporary issues across a range of disciplines. Relationships with the Gunai Kurnai community are well established. Our Koori students are supported as individuals and have the opportunity to study VCE Recovered Language units through GippsTafe. The College choir has worked closely with local elders to translate traditional Taisé chants into Gunai Kurnai and these now form an integral part of the choir’s performance repertoire.
