BECOMING ADOLESCENTS
The Presentation and St Paul's Campuses work with students in Years 7, 8 and 9. These students are entering and passing through the first stages of adolescence. Staff members work at supporting students and helping to build mutual trust respect and resilience among these students. The curriculum is devised to assist students to become confident, creative and independent learners. Students are learning to learn and are exposed to a broad range of subjects designed to stimulate thinking and further their grounding in the basics of literacy and numeracy. Computers and technology are integrated across the various subject areas. As students progress to Year 9, they begin to leave childhood behind and feel the need to assert their independence, develop tastes and opinions and experiment with different aspects of their lives. They usually develop a strong sense of social justice and a firm bond with their peers. Teachers strive to harness and direct these energies and enthusiasms to help students manage the changes they are experiencing. Both Campuses have limits on their enrolments and parents are advised to be prompt with their application.
