VETiS

Lavalla Catholic College offers a wide range of VETiS studies to students. Year 10 students can chose from a large number of on campus options in the areas such as Multi Media, Business Administration, Outdoor Recreation, Building and Construction, Engineering, Hairdressing and Hospitality.

At Year 11 there is a wide choice encompassing on campus delivery and off campus courses delivered by outside providers one day a week. VETiS certificates can form part of both VCE and VCAL study programs. The majority of VETiS courses are at a Certificate II level and classified as VCE/VETiS and attract a study score that can be included when calculating a student’s ATAR (Australian  Tertiary Admission Rank). Selected VETiS subjects also form part of the Applied Learning VCAL program at Year 10.

VETiS Enhancement Courses

What is VETiS in Schools?
VETiS (Vocational Education and Training in Schools) are programs undertaken by school students, as part of their VCE or VCAL certificate, and provide credit towards a nationally recognised Vocational Education and Training in Schools (VETiS) qualification within the Australian Qualifications Framework.  The training that students receive reflects specific industry competency standards.

Lavalla Catholic College has arrangements in place with a variety of Registered Training Organisations (RTO’s) to ensure we can offer a wide range of VETiS subjects to our students. These RTO’s are listed below.

A key success of VETiS is the integration of vocational options within the traditionally academic studies at the senior secondary school level. VETiSIS programs allow Year 11 and 12 students to:

  • develop industry specific skills
  • gain nationally recognised Vocational Education and Training in School (VETiS) qualifications and units of competency while still completing their VCE or VCAL
  • develop employability skills and an understanding of the world of work, and;
  • gain valuable experience to assist with planning and pursuing their career pathways.

Only the On-Campus VETiS subjects shown below are available to year 10 students.
