About Us

Welcome to the Lavalla Catholic College website

From The Prinicpal

At Lavalla Catholic College we take to heart the inspiring words of Marcellin Champagnat, the founder of the Marist brothers, that to “ ... educate children is to love them and to love them all equally”. Writing over 150 years ago, Marcellin understood what every teacher knows, that teaching and learning are about forming a strong relationship with each individual built on trust, respect and love. Lavalla Catholic College is such a community - a wonderful place where through guidance and support young people learn and develop into intelligent, caring, human beings.

With its network of three Campuses, Lavalla Catholic College provides a Catholic education that meets the needs of all students and families in the Latrobe Valley. While it has an academic focus, it is also a school where a broad range of subjects are offered at each year level and where many opportunities are provided to broaden life skills.

In these web pages you will be able to identify that what distinguishes us from other learning institutions is our commitment to our Catholic faith. It is a faith espousing hope. An education gained at Lavalla Catholic College is an education for the here and now as well as an education for later life. It is not just about subjects but about each student leading a fulfilling, positive life.

We work with our students so that they feel optimistic about embracing life after they leave; that their values, morals and ethics and well articulated so that they may become worthy citizens; in their growing and maturing that they have learnt to make the right choices for themselves whether in terms of subject selection or in their relationships. Central to Lavalla Catholic College is learning, life and faith in a dynamic and engaging environment.

True to its Marist tradition the College places a strong value on Family. We appreciate our long associations with families in the Latrobe Valley and look forward to working with all families who seek to join us in a spirit of partnership, shared responsibility and mutual support.
